Meet Wairimu "Mimo"
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I have always taken great interest in the emotional caretaking of those around me, so I knew that it would make a passion filled career for me in the future. I pursued an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Armstrong State University in Savannah, GA, which further confirmed the passion I have in understanding and healing the hurts of others. I went on to attain a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Connecticut. This trained me to not only work with individuals but to understand the systems and relationships around them that are impacting their mental health and quality of life.
I have worked with young adults, children, couples, and elderly clients to address a variety of diagnoses and relational conflicts. I have treated clients with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Personality Disorders, difficult life transitions, codependency, grief, and marital and family conflict.

I believe that every individual has the tools and strength within them to navigate the ups and downs of life. I believe circumstances, past trauma, and unfortunate life events weigh on us and create internal distrust that disconnects us from ourselves and resources that could bring us the happiness and connection we seek. I want to navigate these spaces with my clients and help restore their relationship with themselves and support them in attaining their personal goals and engaging in the resources they need to thrive.
I have journeyed through my own personal journey with anxiety, depression, and grief, so I personally understand the obstacles that those things can place in front of you. I have experienced the disconnection from my community and even myself. You don’t have to navigate these hard things alone. I would love to support you on your journey to healing and growth. I hope to provide a safe and validating space to be exactly as you are in your journey and to take the steps you feel ready to take towards your goals.
